What We Do
Keeping The Art Alive
We dedicate our time to promoting the Art of Wood Carving through our Membership. We utilize our time at our gatherings to share our knowledge with both Current and NEW Members.
We have members of all ages, skill levels and carving styles and subjects such as Caricatures, Birds, Animals, Mythical or Flowers but all are very willing to help you get to the level you desire.
Club Activities
Functions our Members Enjoy
Texas Woodcarvers Guild Annual Show & Competition
As a Club, we participate at the Texas Woodcarvers Guild annual show and Competition. Our club purchases a “club table” and we ask members to display some of their art work. There is also a competition and we encourage our members to join for fun, prizes and recognition. There are 3 category levels to compete in, NOVICE, INTERMEDIATE and OPEN. our members have always done well in this competition
Spring Potluck Picnic
We host a Spring Potluck Picnic (spouses/significant others are always welcomed). The club will purchase Hotdogs and Patty’s and members volunteer to bring the condiments and drinks. Some will surprise us with some of their secret dishes too. We sit around carving or crafting and enjoying some great conversations, we might even have a friendly carving competition and hand out prizes to the winners.
Christmas Luncheon & Fundraiser
In the Fall we host our Christmas Luncheon where we gather and hold our annual fundraiser and White Elephant Gift Exchange.
During this function we host a Raffle in which members donate an item/items relating to our art, maybe a tool that they no longer need or a small woodcarving. Tickets are sold to members and prizes can be collected in person.
Another function is our Triple P (Past & Present Presidents) Bingo. In this activity every member that has been a President for the club donates a carving or more to be given out as a prize. Bingo Cards are sold to members and prizes collected as cards are filled
Then of course our White Elephant Gift Exchange. To participate, a Hand Carved Item is wrapped and not labeled or tagged. Participants pick a number and takes a gift. The participating member opens it and can keep it, trade it or have it taken away by another member, this event is a lot of fun and brings a lot of laughs.
